The Indian dal soup is more or less similar to the lentil stew, very nutritious and yummy for lunch and supper. In southern part of India it is called rasam and is generally relished with rice. Tomato Lentil Stew Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup lentils (dry)6 cups waterChopped cilantro2 tomatoes (chopped)1 onion chopped1 cup spinach (finely chopped)Salt to taste1 tsp cumin seeds½ tsp turmeric1 tsp ginger paste2-3 garlic cloves2-3 tsps lemon juiceEasy soup recipe instructions:
1. Pressure cook the lentils with little tomatoes (about 1/2 cup), turmeric and salt. Beat well into puree.
2. Heat a thick bottomed vessel and add all the above ingredients.
3. When the mixture is boiling, add the boiled lentils, peeled tomatoes and stir well.
4. Turn off the stove after 10 minutes and add a few drops of lemon before serving. Tasty tomato lentil stew is ready.
